Iron Velo blog has a great report about riding one of the many cycling routes that take in parts of the Tour of Flanders route. The Eddy Merckx route may only be 45km but it takes in many of the key cobbled climbs.
I was there this summer and had the same experience - great hills and great weather, and loads of friendly cyclists, too.
